Lately, tourists coming to Shuklaphanta have also started to increase. According to the statistics of the National Park, 266 foreigners visited the park in 2075, while 193 citizens of SAARC countries visited the park. Similarly, in 2076, 308 people from SAARC countries visited and 350 foreigners visited.
The number of tourists coming here has increased in 2078. One thousand six hundred and fifty one foreigners have visited while one thousand twenty citizens of SAARC countries have visited Shuklaphanta. Similarly, 26,382 natives have visited Shuklaphanta.
“Since the number of tourists started to increase in the houses in the new village located in Bhimdatta Municipality-14, now the 16 houses here are full.” Said Owner Chetram Rana.
“After being closed for two years due to the Corona epidemic, now the guests have started coming. Nowadays, advance bookings are being made. The tourists who come to visit Shuklaphanta National Park from Pokhara and other places prefer Garbas. They look for a quiet place because the hotel is expensive and noisy. Now students have come from Pokhara, all the guest houses are full.” He added.
“The house was crowded with guests. Corona has made it quiet, now guests have started to increase. This is the time for guests to come. There are more guests especially during festivals and Phaganu.” said Baburam Rana, another local.
“The income level of the local residents has also started to increase after Gharbas started operating in the settlement connected with Shuklaphanta National Park. The attraction towards the homestay in Rana Tharu Basti is increasing, internal and external tourists who come for a visit to Shuklaphanta National Park come here.” said Chetra Rana.
“When Gharbas came into operation, along with the preservation of their art, culture and tradition, there was also publicity. According to the demand of the guests who come here, we show food and dance. This has also protected our culture and has helped our income level as well.” Said Rana.
“Shuklaphanta is an attractive destination for tourists. The herd of twelve hornbills that can be seen in the gorge of Shuklaphanta is an attraction for tourists. The number of tourists coming here is increasing.
