Five more species of birds have been found in the Resunga forest area of Gulmi.
Bird conservation association Gulmi conducted a bird study in Resunga and found birds of Tuinsi Sunga, Kotero Munian, Chanchle Sudsudia, Chakhewachkhevi, and Tilhari species.
Along with this, there are 258 species of birds in Resunga. Earlier there were 253 species. Here you can find Ranatta Mahachiel, Cheel, White Vulture, Gomayu Mahachiel, Dangur Vulture and Golden Vulture, which are considered rare in the world.
Although rare birds are found in this area, there is a challenge to preserve them due to climate change, according to the association. Resunga has seven thousand nine hundred three hectares of forest in the forest conservation area.
Along with 258 birds, there are 125 plants, 71 herbs, 25 mammals, 19 butterflies, 19 reptiles, 11 fish, and six species of amphibians. Resunga was identified as an Important Bird Area in 2005. The Resunga area, which is 2,350 meters above sea level, is considered a historical, religious, and tourist area.
“29 percent of the 892 species of birds found in Nepal are currently found here,” said Bharat Panthi, project officer of the association.
“Resunga is a historical, religious, and tourist spot along with birds. This area is becoming a habitat for birds,” said Resunga Municipality Chief, Khildhwaj Panthi._Rss
