The fire at the Simkot-based airport staff quarters has been brought under control. Chief of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Surya Prakash Subedi informed that the fire started at 4 am and was brought under control after 3 hours. The fire at the airport chief's quarters was brought under control after the efforts of locals including Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Janpath Police, said Police Chief Subedi. The fire was extinguished due to the freezing of tempretaure in Simkot. It is estimated that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in the electric wire due to the heater used in the office.

Chief of the airport Bishnu Adhikari said that three rooms of the six-room building were completely destroyed by the fire. Office documents, AC, solar and batteries in the room where the fire started have been destroyed by fire. The windows and doors of the remaining rooms have also been blown out to control the fire. The building is 50 percent damaged. Ganesh Suinyal, an employee of the District Police Office, Humla has been injured in the fire.
