Nepal Army Team Successfully Climbs Annapurna-I as Part of Mountain Cleanup Campaign

A team from the Nepal Army has successfully reached the summit of Annapurna I as part of a mountain cleanup campaign. Led by Captain Suman Pandey, the team, which included Lance Corporal Man Singh Chaudhary, army men Nabaraj Rana and Gyanendra Dangi, and five Sherpas, reached the peak at 8:55 a.m. today. The climb is part of an annual campaign launched by the government, under the leadership of the Army, to conserve biodiversity and ecology. Cleanup drives are currently ongoing on Mount Everest, Lhotse, Baruntse, and Annapurna.

Meanwhile, another team of 13, led by Lieutenant Colonel Kishor Adhikari, has reached the Second Base Camp as part of a cleanup campaign on Mount Everest and Lhotse. Additionally, a team that set out to clean up Baruntse is currently making its way to the Base Camp. This year, the campaign aims to collect around 35 metric tons of garbage from the mountains of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Annapurna, and Baruntse.

The Nepal Army's involvement in this campaign is a positive step towards the preservation of the country's natural environment. It is heartening to see the Army taking an active role in conservation efforts and leading by example. It is hoped that such initiatives will inspire more people to take up the cause of protecting our planet's fragile ecosystems._Rss
