Aloft by Marriott Kathmandu Thamel has been named Nepal's Leading Hotel 2026 at the World Travel Awards 2026, earning international recognition for its contribution to Nepal's hospitality and tourism industry.
The award was announced at the World Travel Awards Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2026, held on 27 September at CROSSROADS Maldives. The ceremony brought together leading travel and tourism organisations from across Asia, Oceania and the Indian Ocean region.
The recognition highlights the hotel's continued focus on contemporary hospitality, distinctive guest experiences and its role in Kathmandu's evolving tourism landscape.

Since opening in 2019, the hotel has brought the Aloft brand's design-led approach to Nepal, blending modern spaces with Nepali art, music, food and cultural influences for both international and domestic travellers.
Speaking on the win, Vikram Singh, General Manager of Aloft by Marriott Kathmandu Thamel, said the title was a proud moment for the entire team and a reflection of their dedication to creating memorable guest experiences. He added that the recognition was also an opportunity to remind the international travel community that, while recent floods have affected certain areas, tourism continues across much of Nepal.
"Hotels, restaurants and tourism businesses in many destinations continue to operate and serve travelers, with services continuing as usual," Singh said. "We hope this recognition further highlights the resilience of Nepal's tourism industry and the many destinations that continue to welcome visitors."
Over the years, the hotel has built its presence through culinary experiences, music and cultural programming, wellness offerings, events, community initiatives and collaborations connecting it with Kathmandu's tourism and lifestyle scene.
Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards recognises excellence across the global travel and tourism industry. This year's Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean ceremony honoured leading destinations, hotels, resorts, airlines, airports, tour operators and other tourism organisations from across the region.
