A total of 3,075 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The new cases were confirmed in 16,428 sample tests through RT- PCR and antigen method held in various laboratories across the country. This takes the COVID-19 caseload in the country to 742,228 to date, with another 78,377 confirmed through antigen tests. 

Similarly, 2,126 people recovered from the Corona Virus infection during the same period, taking the total recovery number to 691,299 as of now, the Ministry said. 

The number of active cases currently stands at 40,500. Among them, 37,114 are receiving treatment in home isolation while 3,386 are treated in institutional isolation. Altogether 739 COVID-19 patients are in ICU while 168 are with ventilator support. 

Meanwhile, 33 people died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. So far 10,429 people have succumbed to Coronavirus infection. A total of 91,011 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the Ministry said.
