After being shut down for ten days due to floods, the Deurali-Sunakot road portion under the Shringapath freeway in the south of Tanahun is now open again.

Due to incessant rains, the road was flooded on October 26, and after the movement of vehicles was blocked, a new track was opened and the traffic resumed today. Vehicles plying in Syangja, Palpa, and Nawalparasi districts along with Rishing, Ghiring Rural Municipality of Tanahun were stopped when the road near Deurali in Ghiring Rural Municipality-5 of the district was hit by a landslide due to incessant rain.

“After the road was blocked, the passengers were forced to take a bus again after walking some distance as the vehicles were stopped here and the vehicles were stopped there. Due to daily landslides on the road, two to three dozers were used to cut the guardrail on the upper side and made a new road.” Said Anjan Pariyar, Press Adviser of Ghiring Rural Municipality

“Since the Gandaki province has provided a budget of Rs. 25 lakhs. During the Dashain period, as vehicles did not run, common people had to face difficulties by walking long distances to pat the hands of their relatives, friends and loved ones.” He added.

“After the construction of the road, small and big vehicles have started moving freely. Due to incessant rains during Dashain, the work could not be done immediately, so there was a delay for some time.” Said Dadhiraj Subedi, Mayor of Bhimad Municipality

“For the time being, plans have been established for the cars to stay here and the vehicles there to reach their destinations, addressing the issue of passengers throughout the event.” Said Hem Bahadur Thapa, Chairman of Ghiring Rural Municipality._Rss
