Nepal is set to host major events for the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) on 19th and 20th September 2024, in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board. The events will celebrate excellence in the hospitality sector, marking the 8th edition of SATA

8th July 2024, Kathmandu, Nepal - The South Asian Travel Awards (SATA), the leading recognition program for South Asia's travel and tourism sector, is proud to announce a series of prestigious events to be held in Nepal on 19th and 20th September, 2024, in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board. This partnership aims to celebrate excellence within Nepal's tourism industry while showcasing the country's unique offerings to a wider regional audience.

The event promises to celebrate and honor excellence in the hospitality sector across the region. Moreover, it is the 8th edition of SATA as continuing the tradition of recognizing outstanding  achievements in South Asian Hospitality. Furthermore, this event will be supported by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Hotel Association Nepal (HAN). 

"Showing is Believing," states the Nepal Tourism Board, reflecting the collaborative spirit behind this exciting event. Likewise, the festivities will kick off with a grand event on September 19th, 2024, at The Malla Hotel.  This evening is designed as a prime networking opportunity, aiming to foster connections among key players in the business and provide a platform for meaningful collaborations.

Following the grand opening, cocktails, a gala, and the much-anticipated awards ceremony will take place at The Aloft Hotel, Kathmandu on September 20th, 2024. This prestigious event will recognize outstanding achievements in South Asian hospitality, showcasing the pinnacle of excellence in the industry. 

The events will bring together top travel and tourism professionals from across South Asia. There will be more than 400 nominees and among them 44 will be the winners. Attendees will include industry leaders, travel experts, and representatives from various hospitality sectors, all coming together to celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements in the region’s tourism sector.

Mr. Ismail Hameed, President of SATA, stated that “neighbors are always needed for progress.” He emphasized the importance of building strong relationships with neighboring countries to promote travel and tourism. This collaboration underscores shared commitment to fostering growth and excellence in the South Asian travel industry.

Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board, also stated, “Hosting the SATA events is a fantastic opportunity for Nepal to demonstrate its capabilities as a leading travel destination. We are eager to welcome industry professionals from across South Asia and beyond to experience the unique charm and warmth of our country.” 

SATA has been held in various countries every year such as Mount Lavinia, Addu City in Mumbai, India and many more.
