The classification of hotels and restaurants in Rupandehi on the basis of food hygiene has been started. Food, Technology, and Quality Control Office Bhairahawa have started grading hotels and restaurants by setting standards of food hygiene.
After the monitoring of the inspectors assigned from the office, stickers were placed in hotels and restaurants based on the results. Since four levels have been determined as excellent, excellent, satisfactory, and average, consumers can know the quality of hotels and restaurants based on the same stickers.
Out of 25 hotels and restaurants monitored in the district so far, only one hotel has been rated as excellent. A green sticker with three stars (A category) is affixed to hotels and restaurants that score more than 90 points when evaluated out of 100 points.
(Superior), 80 to 89 marks with two stars (B category) green sticker (excellent), 65 to 79 marks with a one-star green sticker,s and below 65 and above 50 marks are given yellow stickers in hotels and restaurants.
According to the Food Technology and Quality Control Office, classification has been made in four categories on the basis of 100 integers based on 50 points based on 2 numbers for each point.
“According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, hotels and restaurants have been monitored according to the guidelines for rating hotels and restaurants on the basis of food hygiene,” said Bimal Kumar Dahal, head of Food Technology and Quality Control Office, Bhairahawa._Rss
