The 'Lumbini Peace Half Marathon Competition' has started in Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautama Buddha, with the slogan 'Sports for Peace and Prosperity'.
Chairman of CPN (UML) and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the competition by handing over the lamp lit at Shantideep in Lumbini to coaches and Olympians Chandra Bahadur Gurung, Vimala Rana and Mohan Ghale. Madan Bhandari Sports Academy has organized a competition on the occasion of International Sports Day.
Two thousand five hundred and fifty women and men players from all over the country are participating in the competition. Dhruv Acharya, president of the organization Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, informed that the participants of the marathon, which started from the entrance of the Mayadevi temple, completed the distance of 21 kilometers by hitting two rounds around Lumbini.
In the competition, the first male player will be awarded Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand, second runner up Rs 75 and third runner up Rs 50 thousand. Similarly, the organizing organization said that prizes, certificates and medals will be given to players who get up to 10th place in both categories._RSS
