The Ekadashi fair is going to be held at Golaghat in Chitwan. The fair is going to be organized under the project of Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality-28.

Those who come to see the two-day-long fair can stay at Tharu and Kumal Gharbas 'homestays' and taste local dishes such as chinchar, duck chicken, and ghungi. The fair held every year on Ekadashi was stopped for a few years due to Corona. Tourists come to Golaghat, which is connected to Chitwan National Park, especially to see wildlife.

The Narayani River and the Rapti River merge into the very beautiful and picturesque Golaghat, where the forest of the park and the confluence of two rivers advance. Local and foreign tourists also come here to watch the sunset. The view of the sunset can be well observed from here because there are no human settlements or physical structures around the wide-flowing river. With the sunset, tiger, one-horned rhinoceros, deer, chital, and crocodile are the center of attraction here. Tourists coming to the fair can go on a jeep safari to see wildlife and enjoy the beauty of Golaghat.

“A fair is going to be held on the 17th and 18th of Kartik for the purpose of promoting Golaghat, the main tourist area of West Chitwan.” Said Bhimsen Kumal, Chairman of the Golaghat Ekadashi Mela Organizing Committee.

“The fair will be conducted near the confluence of Narayani river and Rapti river and the aim of the fair is to introduce Golaghat as a religious place to internal and external tourists.” He added.

Local and national artists will also perform in the fair. The attractions of the fair will be Bhajan-Kirtan by the Brahmin community, panchebaza by the Dalit community, Paudure by the Kumal community, and stick dance by the Tharu community. The organizers believe that the Ekadashi Mela will increase domestic tourist arrivals in Golaghat.” Said Secretary Buddhi Kandel._Rss
