Kisipidhi village in the western part of Kathmandu has revived the glory of the Licchavi period. Kisipindi village is promoting tourism through homestays built in the original style.
Inscriptions, vessels, and statues found here prove that there were eight main Drandhas (settlements) named 'Kich: Preching' before the Licchavi period, Kisipedi is one of them. Currently, ward president Rajendra Maharjan is actively involved in 'Kich: Preaching' in Chandragiri Municipality-5 with the aim of recovering the glory of the Licchavi era. Old objects will be found and new structures built within the settlement will be constructed in such a way as to reflect the archeological appearance.
In ancient times, Kisipidi, with 250 houses, was a safe and prosperous settlement surrounded by a fort. The stones lying on the road leading to the settlement are proof of that. The stone streams, ponds, temples, and wooden statues found on the road testify to the fact that Kisipidi was a state with an original civilization.
According to Rabindra Rizal, who has studied Kisipindi, there are five inscriptions of the Lichchavi period in Kisipindi. Those inscriptions show that the ruler of that time gave the people of the land sadhsi, agricultural and tax exemption, and the construction of wells and temples.
Especially Kich: Preching is a Kirat period settlement. It was more organized during the Lichchavikal period. Jatras and festivals developed during the Malla period. Before the Rana period, Ghode Jatra was celebrated as New Year. Kalika Bhairav's chariot procession takes place on the day of the horse procession in Kisipindi.
The work of reviving the Kisipidi surrounded by Garhparkhal has been started. Although the historical aspect is proud, the influence of modernity has overshadowed this village. After the earthquake of 2072, the old-style houses were destroyed and the ancient structure here has been destroyed. Locals consider it easier to build a modern house as it costs more to build a new structure in the old style.
The cost of making one window in the old house is enough to buy the windows of the current two-and-a-half-story house. There is an attempt to make the front part of the house built in a modern style with the help of concrete with dachi bricks, but to some extent, in a traditional style.
The matter of giving some subsidy to those who build houses in the old style is being discussed. Kalika Bhairava temple is built in the old style with dachi bricks and artistic windows. A private house is also built in the old style._Rss
