SKAL International Nepal Organize Its SKAL AGM and Networking Retreat at Tayo Eco Resort

SKAL International Nepal is hosting a two-day SKAL Annual General Meeting and Networking Retreat at Tayo Eco Resort on the top of Peace Hill in Nagarkot. The main event of the SKAL AGM concluded on Monday evening at the Tayo Eco Resort's conference hall, with freshly elected Board Members and the presidency followed by a DJ session. Skål International was formed in 1934 by Travel and Hospitality industry professionals to promote global tourism and friendship. Skål is the International organization of Tourism Professionals around the world promoting global networking with more than 12293 travel & tourism professionals across more than 86 countries with 308 clubs worldwide. It is the only International association uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry.

It is the only international association which represents all aspects of the tourism and travel industry. The SKAL Club has 66 members from leading hotels, travel/trekking companies, airlines, tourism board, and adventure companies in Nepal. It is actively involved in different Corporate Social Responsibility activities including heritage and environmental preservation.

The Swasti Baachan and the 'Paanas Batti' lighting the lamp from Prabin Bahadur Pandey (President of SKAL International Nepal), Rabindra Raj Pandey (Past President), and Chairman of Tayo Eco Resort kicked off the formal inaugural of the SKAL International Nepal Annual General Meeting. The President of SKAL handed the batch and the flag to the official welcoming and recognizing the new members of SKAL. Pankaj Pradhanang (Director-Four Season Travel), Nabin Trital (MD-Expedition Himalaya.com), Deenam Lamichhane (MD-Sita World Travel), Niraj Shrestha (MD-Rural Heritage), Prabhakar Khadka (Siddharth Hospitality), and Binod Abraham (Fly Dubai) are the new members of the SKAL International Nepal. The cultural performance 'Kumari Dance,' an ancient classical dance performed by Chanira Bajracharya & team was performed and followed by short video presentations of the SKAL Hymn, History, and International Journey.

 

With a vision of making a Nepal year-round destination, Prabin Bahadur Pandey shared “We need to promote Nepal as a year-round destination not just for mountaineering, and trekking but also for cultural tours, and adventure sports. And we need to embrace innovations and technology to enhance the visitor experience and streamline operations. The time has come to take Nepal to a new height with re-branding the old traditional method of promotion activities alone will not help. It's time to massively digitalized and organized events in the places where Nepal needs more exposure.” He added, “Today my role as a President of SKAL come to an end but I will be taking a leading role soon in the industry and the official level and in a personal.”

 

Sujeev Shakya, Thoughtpreneur and CEO of Beed management and author of Unleashing the Vajra, then gave a special presentation on cultural heritage and the future of Nepal's tourism. The members unanimously agreed to reduce the executive committee's tenure from four years to two years with the induction of past presidents as honorary members. Sanjeev Pathak(Annapurna Travel), General Secretary of the SKAL, highlights the updates and remarks on the SKAL activities with financial treasurer reports. The certificate and token of appreciation were distributed to the special guests, hospitality partners, sponsors, and government bodies.

 

An informative video presentation was exhibited to the members regarding what SKAL Nepal is and the activities they are involved in. The organization displayed its involvement in various sectors of health, education, and environment and infrastructure development following the 2015 Nepal earthquake. After the presentation, the results of the elections for the post of presidency and the executive members were announced by Election Commissioner, Upaul Mazumdar.

 

The new and potential executive members of Skal Nepal were recognized: Bijay Amatya (Kora Tours), Sarik Bogati (Qatar Airways), Yogendra B. Thapa (Barahi Resort), Pankaj Pradhananga(Four Season Travel and Tours), and Kencho Ongdi(Everest Summit Lodge) with Treasurer Rupesh Joshi(Buddha Air) and Generel Secretary Sanjeev Pathak(Annapurna Travel). Similarly, Mahendra Raj Poudel (Director of Global Asia Tours Pvt. Ltd.) was elected as the new president of SKAL Nepal, while Ramesh Luitel(Euro Asia Tour Pvt. Ltd.) and Basant Raj Mishra(Temple Tiger Group) are the first and Second Vice Presidents of SKAL Nepal respectively. The AGM was concluded with a vote of gratitude from the newly elected President and all guests raising a toast to SKAL, followed by a continental dinner with a live DJ session.
