Thailand has extended the daily dine-in time in restaurants in certain areas as the domestic outbreak appears to be largely under control, the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Friday.
Restaurants in Bangkok and three of its neighbor provinces, Samut Prakan, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani, will have their customers seated until 11:00 p.m. without serving alcoholic drinks, according to CCSA spokesman Taweesin Visanuyothin. The new order, which allows restaurants to serve indoor dining for two more hours compared to the previous one, is set to take effect on Feb. 1, Taweesin said.
Nevertheless, the anti-pandemic measures are still enforced to the extent that the restaurants arrange the seating in social distancing order and provide alcoholic gel for customers, Taweesin added. Samut Sakhon, one of Bangkok's neighbors, is not as yet provided such leniency in the anti-pandemic measures since the coastal province has reported hundreds of cases daily.
Bars, karaoke lounges and night entertainment places throughout the Thai capital and neighboring provinces remain closed, while boxing and other sporting arenas can reopen on condition that no spectators be allowed inside, he said.
