After the old temple made of stone and mud became dilapidated, the reconstruction started from the ground up. Ichchakamana temple can be reached after an 18 km dirt road and 600 meters walk from Fisling under Prithvi Highway. Ichchakamana Temple can be easily reached after the construction of Shaktikhor Fisling Road.
There is a religious belief that one who worships in this temple, which is located in the north of the famous religious place Mankamanama temple in Shaheed Lakhan Rural Municipality of Gorkha, will be fulfilled.
Every year after the big Ekadashi of November, a big fair is held on Panchami Tithi. Cows, goats, duck eggs, and chickens are sacrificed in the fair. Bells and Trishul are also offered. Visitors from different parts of the country come to the fair. After the whole night of dancing and fun, it is customary to perform puja in the morning.
Ichchakamana Temple is located at a height of 1800 meters above sea level. The forest surrounds Ichchakamana. The surrounding environment becomes colorful with the red flowers that bloom in February and March. Forest plants are overwhelmed by flowers. From Ichchakamana, in clear weather, one can see the Himalayan range up to Manaslu, Ganesh, and Machhapuchhre.

“Due to lack of budget, the rest of the construction could not be completed. The cost of village municipality and the state government has been spent on the construction of the temple at cost of nearly two million rupees. Four to five lakhs have also been collected from donors. The local people also donated labor for the construction of the temple. This year, the state government has allocated Rs 10 lakh and the village council has also assured the budget allocation.” he added.
“During the rainy season, the vehicle does not run and the transportation becomes expensive as the goods have to be carried. If the budget is ensured, the construction of the temple will be completed this year. The construction of the temple has been delayed due to Corona and financial problems.” said Yan Bahadur Gurung, Vice President of the Temple Construction Committee
“The municipality will allocate the necessary budget for the construction of the temple. A house is being built near the temple. Drinking water has been arranged in the temple through a lift. The village municipality has also given priority to land conservation and access construction. Ichchakamana village is full of tourist assets and the publicity will be increased from this year.” said Dan Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of Ichchakamana rural municipality.
“One of the seven sisters of Mankamana Mai is Ichchakamana. It is not certain when the worship of Ichchakamana Devi started here, but many years ago, my ancestors started worshiping the idol found by the cowherd when the cows and goats started disappearing" said Temple priest Hark Bahadur Gurung
“After worshiping in the temple, cows and goats stopped disappearing. Other villagers also started worshiping. A temple of Shivalaya and an idol of Ganesha were also established in the Ichchakamana temple premises,” he added.
“Recently after the opening of the motorway, pilgrims who came with wishes have also come with wishes. With the increase in the number of pilgrims and tourists coming to visit the temple, preparations are being made to open a hotel as well,” said Pujari Gurung._Rss
