The Bagmati Provincial government has increased public transport fares in the Kathmandu Valley. According to the public transport fare adjustment set by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures Development of the province, travel by public bus up to 5 km distance is charged Rs 18 each.  The decision however comes into effect from October 18.

Similarly, travel up to 10 km is priced Rs 23 each, up to 27 km Rs 27, up to 20 km Rs 30, and over 20 km Rs 35.  A passenger can carry belongings weighing up to 15 kg on a public bus for free. Carrying more than 10 kg belongings is charged Rs 5.  

Similarly, the government has hiked public transport fares within the province except for the Kathmandu Valley by 23 percent.
