Chitwan's Palm Danda, which has a lot of potential for tourism, has been overshadowed due to a lack of development and promotion. In the area of Ichhakamana rural municipality-5, there is an old settlement of the Gurung community.
From here you can see a beautiful view of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Ganesh, and other glaciers. The place can be reached after a journey of eight kilometers from Muglin Bazar via Tamin. Bolero jeeps operate daily to reach there from Muglin, but you can also reach there by motorbike.
“The place with a lot of potential has been overshadowed due to lack of publicity. Along with the attractive view of the snow range, from here you can see the dense fog like silk, like the wings of a Simal, when you look at the Trishuli River from palm hill. Sunrise and sunset can be seen from here. Fog can be seen below the palm tree till Kartik, Mangsir, Poush, Falgun.” said Tara Gurung, ward member of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality-5
To see the sunrise in the morning and after the sunrise, the beauty of the golden sun on the white fog is like sitting on a palm tree. Lots of oranges are blooming here at the moment. This has also made the scene here more charming.
Ichchakamana Temple can be reached in a three-kilometer journey from here. One can see the Ichchakamana temple along with the Chimkeshwari of Tanahun and the Manakamana temple of Gorkha from Pamdanda. There is a homestay in Sathymure near Pamdanda. To reach here, a homestay has been arranged to accommodate 15-20 guests.
Plans have been made to operate a Gurung community homestay in Palm Danda as well. Ancestors came here from Chitrapam, Siranchok rural municipality of Gorkha, in Palm Danda, where only the open caste of the Gurung community is living. From here you can reach the nearby Chepang Basti and get information about the lifestyle there.
“The rural municipality will prioritize the development of tourism in Pamdanda. There is a plan to develop tourism in Palm Danda by upgrading the road and connecting it with Ichhakamana temple,” said Chairman of Ichhakamana Rural Municipality, Dan Bahadur Gurung._Rss
