Lawmakers representing opposition parties including the Nepali Congress have sought responses from the government, lambasting its lackadaisical approach to the prevention and control of COVID-19.
In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), NC parliamentarian Gagan Kumar Thapa said that quarantines constructed to bring coronavirus under control are not systematic while raising questions about would take responsibility for people staying in quarantines dying every day. The former Minister for Health and Population, Thapa, demanded the government make public the details of spending to control coronavirus and drew the government’s attention to bring back Nepalis living abroad immediately.
Though a decision was made to bring back Nepalis living abroad, a dispute has emerged now over which aircraft to use to repatriate them, he said. He also warned of obstructing the next meeting if the government did not respond to the House to that end.
