More than 93,000 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in the district. Altogether, 93,372 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of two different companies, said the District Health Office.
Out of them, 23,938 have also received the second dose. Initially, the vaccination campaign began with Covishield, where 39,879 people received the first dose and 13,172 received the second dose, said the chief of the office Dipak Prasad Tiwari.
Likewise, in the second phase, the China-made Vero cell vaccine had been used, where 53,493 have already received their first dose. Out of them, 10,766 people received their second dose. So far, 13.5 percent population of Chitwan has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the office said. The number of vaccinated population is greater in comparison to the national average, which is around 7 percent.
The office is also beginning to administer the Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccine from coming July 29. People between 5o 54 years old, people with disabilities, refugees in Nepal, and sanitation workers are eligible for the single-shot vaccine.
