The Laos government will continue to implement preventive measures and monitor people entering the country to prevent the spread of COVID-19. People entering Laos will be sent to quarantine centers for 14 days and the temperature of each person must be checked, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control under the Lao Ministry of Health, Sisavath Soutthaniraxay, told a press conference in Lao capital Vientiane on Friday.

On Thursday, a total of 3,263 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints. Of these, 1,849 people crossed the border with Thailand. Some 1,223 people entered Laos from Vietnam and 53 from China. A total of 138 people entered the country via the Wattay International Airport in Lao capital Vientiane. The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that it has been monitoring 3,237 people at 35 accommodation centers across the country.

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Laos remained at 49 and 45 patients have recovered.
