The well-known Nepali mountain guide Kami Rita Sherpa desires to ascend Mount Everest for a record-breaking 27th time.

Kami Rita Sherpa, a famous Nepali mountain guide, announced on Monday that he plans to climb Mount Everest for the 27th time in the upcoming spring season. He will be leading a team of American climbers to the summit of the 8,848-meter peak. Kami Rita Sherpa first conquered Mount Everest in 1994 and has repeated the feat almost every year since then, according to the Guinness Book of Records.

Kami Rita Sherpa is a world-renowned climber who has also summited several other 8,000-meter peaks in the Himalayas. He belongs to the Sherpa ethnic group, which often works as mountain guides and porters for foreign climbers. Initially working as a porter himself, Kami Rita Sherpa later became a mountain guide.

He has announced that his team's preparations for the 2023 Everest climb are complete, and all the sherpas and cooks on his team have already reached the base camp. For the past two years, he has been the rope-fixed leader who has paved the way for climbers to summit Mount Everest.

In the spring of 2022, he successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest for the 26th time. Since 2018, Kami Rita Sherpa has held the record for climbing Mount Everest the most times in the world. His name appears in the Guinness World Records for various climbing achievements, such as climbing Mount Everest 26 times and mountains higher than 8,000 meters 39 times.

The peak climbing season for Mount Everest is from April to June, during which there are optimal weather conditions for summiting the mountain on the Nepal-Chinese-ruled Tibetan border. As of now, 197 climbers have received climbing permits from Nepal's Ministry of Tourism for the upcoming season, costing $11,000 each. The number is expected to increase significantly.
