A 22-foot tall Shakyamuni statue of Gautam Buddha has been constructed in Chaurideurali rural municipality-6 Arubot of Kavre. On the occasion of the 2859th Sonam Lhosar, the statue was inaugurated with great pomp on Sunday.
The statue was built at a cost of Rs 70 lakh with the help of the government and donors under the leadership of the local Dhinimhendo Tamang Utthan Samaj. On the occasion of the Lhosar special cultural program, MP Gokul Prasad Banskota unveiled the statue.
Lama Guru Khen Rinpoche Munsel Dorje has enshrined his life in the statue. The foundation stone of the statue was laid on 22 Magh 2075 on the occasion of Sonam Lhosar.
In the program, former MP Navina Lama, District Secretary of UML Rajan Bhurtel, local social workers Santavir Lama, Narayan Gautam, and others expressed their happiness that more destinations have been made from a religious tourist point of view. On that occasion, Lamaguru Dorje gave a special sermon on Buddhism.
“The installation of the statue of Buddha, the harbinger of peace, in the beautiful place Arubot will increase the tourist attraction,” MP Gokul Prasad Banskota expressed his belief.
