Due to the increasing access to roads in Walling village, the gravity ropeway that was built in 2074 has become redundant.

The farmers of Walling-5, Padethok, once had to carry the agricultural products produced by them to the market.

One had to walk for almost two hours from the village to reach the nearby Walling Bazaar. Even the road to reach the market was not good, the road network was poor.

Pitlek, a high mountain on the north-east side of Walling Bazaar and Padethok had the problem of drinking water. Ponds were built to collect rainwater for irrigation. To solve this, drinking water was brought to the village by lifting.

After that, to facilitate the production of seasonal and non-seasonal vegetables and fruits, the Jankalyan Agricultural Cooperative was established under the leadership of local farmers. Out of 142 households belonging to the cooperative, 72 households started producing commercial vegetables. With the increase in production, the problem of marketing also increased. In order to facilitate the marketing of agricultural products produced by the locals, a non-electric gravity ropeway was constructed and put into operation in the year 2074.

A ropeway was constructed to connect Walling-1, Triasi, from Sallaghari near Padethok to Walling 5. According to Humnath Lamichhane, the manager of the cooperative, Pitlake-Khare Gravity Ropeway has been operated with public donations. Now, due to the access to the roads, the gravity ropeway has become redundant._RSS
