Five-month-old baby rhino found dead

A five-month-old baby girl (rhinoceros) was found dead at the bottom of Swargadwari Ghat in Namuna Intermediate Community Forest.

A rhino has been found dead in Chitwan National Park. A five-month-old baby girl (rhinoceros) was found dead at the bottom of Swargadwari Ghat in Namuna Intermediate Community Forest in Kawasoti Municipality-13 of Nawalpur today.

According to Lokendra Adhikari, information officer of the park, it is estimated that the girl may have been attacked by a male rhino. He informed that the girl's brahmakhag (newly sprouted horn) and hooves were safe. In the current fiscal year, 15 rhinos have died in the park. Of them, four were killed by smugglers and 11 died due to natural causes. The park has formed a committee to study the death of rhinos due to natural and poaching in the park and security has also been beefed up.
