KATHMANDU

Economist Dr. Kalyan Raj Sharma has been awarded the first ‘Silk Road Friendship Award’. 

At a grand program organized in Beijing of China on Monday evening, 10 personalities from different countries including Dr. Sharma were given the award. As Sharma could not attend the formal ceremony due to COVID-19, Second Secretary of Embassy of Nepal in Beijing Shruti Kadariya collected the award on his behalf. 

Dr. Sharma is working on Nepal-China relations, Silk Road cooperation, and several other areas of bilateral cooperation at the people’s level for a long. 

After the award announcement, Dr. Sharma pledged to further contribute to Nepal-China relations as his best. 

State leaders, high-level government officials, diplomats from different countries, cultural artists, scholars, and other dignitaries were present in the award distribution ceremony hosted by China International Culture Exchange Center and organized by People Magazine. 

On the occasion, a video portraying Nepal’s cultural and tourism activities, and Nepal-China cooperation was also screened.
