Chitwan hosting 3rd Asian Rhino Range Countries' Meeting

The meeting is expected to discuss challenges in the conservation of the animal, coming up with plans for its protection ahead.

Chitwan is hosting an international conference on the conservation of the one-horned rhino from February 3 to February 5, 2023, at Patihani. Senior officials from five Asian countries namely, Nepal, India, Bhutan, Indonesia and Malaysia will be joining the ‘Third Rhino Range Countries Meeting’. 

Department Director General and Joint-Secretaries at the Ministry of Forests and Environment will be there to represent Nepal in the gathering. Field employees in the efforts to conserve the rhino will attend the event as observers. 

The first gathering was held in Indonesia and the second in New Delhi, India.

According to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation’s information officer Dr Ganesh Pant, “People from the relevant field in Nepal, India, Bhutan, Indonesia and Malaysia will be attending the event.”_RSS
