Cathay Pacific revealed its new inflight safety video that combines vital safety demonstrations with the vibrant energy of Hong Kong. Developed in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the video showcases the best of the airline’s home city while ensuring passengers are informed and prepared.
The video takes viewers through Hong Kong's iconic landmarks, cultural attractions, and natural landscapes. Safety demonstrations are smoothly integrated with scenes from various city locations. Passengers will find themselves in a bustling dai pai dong for the “no smoking” announcement, witness a dragon boat race during the life jacket demonstration, and see Shek O Beach as the backdrop for emergency procedures. Other featured locations include Causeway Bay, Xiqu Centre, the Peak Tram, Tin Hau Temple, and Clearwater Bay Country Park.
Cathay Pacific held a preview event at The Sky Lounge, The Upper House, on July 26. The event was hosted by Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau and attended by HKTB Executive Director Dane Cheng, Commissioner for Tourism Vivian Sum, and Cathay Chief Operations and Service Delivery Officer Alex McGowan.
Cathay Pacific’s Lavinia Lau emphasized: “At Cathay Pacific, safety has always been at the heart of everything we do, and this new video embodies our commitment to keeping our customers informed and prepared, while fostering our Move Beyond spirit. We wanted to put our own spin on the video and create something truly memorable that resonates with our global audience and showcases the true essence of our home city on the move. We are deeply appreciative of the support from HKTB, which has allowed us to weave together inflight safety information and the vibrant offerings of Hong Kong in a gripping video.”
The new safety video will replace the current one, introduced over seven years ago, and will be rolled out across Cathay Pacific flights starting August 1, 2024.
