The Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality is gearing up to celebrate the year 2024 as the "Year of Visitation." In a bid to attract foreign tourists, they have initiated a comprehensive plan to promote tourism in the region.
The International Non-Resident Nepalese Association has appointed Som Sapkota as the coordinator of the international coordination committee for the visit year. Nepalis from around the world are being invited to join in the celebration. Currently, Nepalis from 54 countries have united in a social media group, with more countries and individuals expected to join gradually.
Chitwan residents and Nepalese abroad are encouraged to visit Nepal during the visit year, and efforts are underway to invite working professionals and their organizations to Bharatpur. Furthermore, the municipality is collaborating with local governments and various organizations to encourage tourists to explore Bharatpur. Local hotels, restaurants, and shops operated by Nepalis have been urged to display posters and digital content related to the visit year.
Additionally, embassies are stocked with materials such as posters and pamphlets promoting the visit year, while non-resident Nepalese association chairpersons from different countries have been appointed as advisors to maximize tourist inflow.
The International Coordinating Committee Chitwan Society conference, scheduled for October 14, will facilitate the invitation of Nepalis living abroad and plan their visits during the year. The Bharatpur Metropolitan Chief, Renu Dahal, emphasized their commitment to invite Bharatpur residents, Chitwan residents, and all Nepalis abroad for the visit year. They also intend to promote tourism globally through diplomatic missions and non-resident Nepalese associations.
To extend tourists' stays and provide them with diverse experiences, the Metropolitan Municipality is actively exploring new destinations. Chitwan National Park, renowned for its rare wildlife, remains a top attraction for tourists. The municipality is even constructing an open cage in Devanagar to showcase tigers, ensuring tourists have the opportunity to witness these majestic creatures.
Chitrasen Adhikari, Deputy Head of the Metropolitan Municipality, expressed confidence that both domestic and foreign tourists would visit in significant numbers. He highlighted efforts to organize essential tourist destinations within the metropolis and discover new ones.
The visit year is expected to bring in over four lakh foreign tourists, with plans to coordinate with various tourism associations in Nepal to attract a significant portion of these visitors to Bharatpur. Chitwan, being the third most popular tourist destination in the country, aims to revive its tourism sector, which has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality has formed multiple committees and initiated various activities to ensure the success of the visit year. With numerous tourist hotels and picturesque destinations, including sunrise at Chowkidanda and sunset at Golaghat, Bharatpur is set to become a prominent destination for travelers.
The region's strategic location, nestled between the Rapti and Narayani rivers, positions it as a vital hub for para-tourism, making it a pivotal place for the country's tourism industry._Rss
