Banke's Nepalgunj, which is considered the economic hub of western Nepal, is progressing as a hotel hub. Due to the short route from Nepalgunj to Mansarovar in Tibet via Humla Simikot, especially with the increase in Indian tourists, investment in hotels has increased here.
According to hoteliers, more than 12 billion rupees have been invested in the hotel business of Banke's Nepalgunj and Kohalpur. The process of increasing investment is continuing by upgrading the hotels that have been in operation before.
According to the Association of Hoteliers, there are about 3000 small and big hotels in operation across the district. It has 5000 rooms and can hold up to 10000 people at a time. In recent times, there has been an increase in opening star hotels in the district with huge investments. Two five-star hotels have been opened in Banke so far and two four-star hotels have been opened. The rest are tourist-level hotels with three stars and other facilities.
Recently, since it became easier for Indian tourists to go to Mansarovar via Nepalgunj, there has been an increase in the opening of hotels with tourist-level facilities targeting those tourists. Not only Mansarovar but also tourists from third countries have started coming after trekking started from Nepalgunj to Humla, Dolpa, Khaptad, and Rara.
“As the number of hotels increases, businessmen are upgrading the hotel as well as expanding their services. They have also built a banquet hall with a capacity of 2,000 people, he said that they are operating a 'rooftop restaurant' on the eight floors of the hotel so that the view of Nepalgunj and Kohalpur market can be seen,” said Keshav Neupane, manager of Siddharth Business Group of Hospitality._Rss
