Alternative routes have been constructed by throwing stones into the drain on the road wall.

Now there is a compulsion to go down to Surkhet, the capital of Karnali province, via Madhyapahari road via Dailekh headquarters market. Landslides have occurred in more than 50 places on the Dailekh-Surkhet road section, which is the only alternative.

After the end of Dashain, a team of Armed Police and District Police Office of Dailekh along with Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal of Karnali Province, who are returning to Karnali Province, Mugu, Humla, Jumla, Kalikot and Dailekh, are continuously busy in clearing the roads.

After a big landslide occurred near Dungeshwar Bazar in Dailekh Surkhet section and the road collapsed, a team of security agencies, road department and dozers of the local municipality were used to remove the landslide and operate the road.

Dozers from Narayan municipality, Dungeshwar rural municipality, Gurans rural municipality have been used to open the road. Passengers have to travel on foot, taking the risk of landslides. Landslides occurred in more than 20 places including Chopra Bazar, Upper Dungeshwari section, Zero Point, Ghoda Was section of Dailekh section. At present, the work of removing landslides and operating roads has been accelerated. Even though alternative routes have been constructed by laying stones in drains where roads have been washed away, there is still a need to travel dangerously.

When the security team including Prazia Hamal, Dailekh Police Chief Bhuvneshwar Shah, Armed Police Dailekh Chief Devraj Bista reached the place where the landslide occurred, the dozer operator said that the landslide could not be removed and the dozer had returned. After seeing the situation where hundreds of passengers were stranded for several days, it became necessary to build an alternative road by throwing stones into the drain on the road wall.

The road was made only after all the chiefs from the district, the security forces and the stranded passengers carried stones and built a path to the dozer from the road wall.

The road was opened only after the dozer continued to move two very big stones and clear the landslide and the situation was created where hundreds of passengers had to go back and forth. In some places of Karnali highway and Dailekh-Surkhet road section, the road has been washed away and in some places landslides have occurred.

The Chief District Officer of Dailekh, Gogan Bahadur Hamal informed “The road was blocked for four days to clear the landslides in 20 places and are in operation only since today.”_Rss
