The much-anticipated 3rd edition of the Buddhist International Travel Mart (BITM 2025) is all set to begin from May 23 to 25 (9–11 Jestha 2082) in Kathmandu and Lumbini. Organized by Nepal Tourism Board and implemented by Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), this landmark event underscores Nepal’s strategic commitment to promoting Buddhist pilgrimage tourism on a global scale.
Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and supported by the Nepal Tourism Board, Lumbini Development Trust and key industry associations, BITM serves as a premier platform to highlight Nepal’s rich spiritual heritage and growing potential in niche tourism markets.
The event centers on promoting sacred Buddhist sites such as Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, and historic locations within the Kathmandu Valley, with the objective of positioning Nepal as a leading destination for spiritual and cultural tourism.
BITM 2025 will also introduce a range of new tourism products and experiences designed to appeal to international markets, offering local tourism entrepreneurs a valuable opportunity to network, collaborate, and expand their reach. The event is expected to attract international tour operators, travel buyers, and industry professionals, fostering religious, cultural, and tourism cooperation with Buddhist-majority countries and beyond.
By integrating cultural authenticity with strategic promotion, BITM 2025 aims to elevate Lumbini’s global profile, strengthen Nepal’s tourism economy, and create long-term value for the country’s spiritual and cultural tourism sectors.
