Can you share your journey into hospitality and what inspired you to pursue a career in the hospitality sector?

Well, to summarize the journey of 2 decades, I’d say the journey has been absolutely amazing and challenging at the same time. I have always found my inner peace in serving people and bringing smiles on their faces. Further, I am also an outspoken girl who loves to interact with the people, create vibes and make people happy. What could be a better place than hospitality where I can meet new people almost everyday, know about them, explore things, exchange experiences, serve them and the most important thing, the exchange of smiles every time while serving.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career so far, particularly in your journey with the vibrant team at Hotel Sarowar?

The most rewarding part at Hotel Sarowar is, I always have that gratitude for the work ambience that my Managing Director and General Manager have provided me. I am thankful to them for believing in me and that’s why I always pour my heart out to turn into results irrespective of the circumstances. On top of the overwhelming feedback from the client and agencies adds fuel to my performance motivating me to I Should and I Will.

What would you recommend as the must experience activity or attraction for tourists visiting Nepal to truly immerse themselves in the country’s rich culture and natural beauty?

Apart from the first and last rays of sunlight on the high range snow capped peaks and mountains, the mesmerising panoramic view above the clouds, the adventurous trekking trails, it is the journey through the villages, the unsung love of hospitality of the people and the connection you feel with nature. To truly immerse themselves with the culture, one should not miss the Bisket Jatra of Bhaktapur, The Rato Machhindranath Jatra, the street festival of Lakeside, The ancient city of Bhaktapur and Patan, The Kartik Nach and the local authentic dishes which blend with the season and nature.

As a woman in a leadership position, what obstacles have you encountered, and how have you navigated them successfully?

The hospitality market in Nepal is small but competitive and dynamic. As a woman in Sales and Marketing, I navigate the unique challenges of engaging with new people daily—some with genuine intent, others not. Maintaining professionalism is essential, and I’ve learned to stay sharp, read intent, and lead with clarity. Challenges in this industry aren't gender-exclusive, but standing out requires resilience. I embrace each challenge like an alpha among wolves—through continuous learning, experience, and honest feedback from the concerns. I believe in building a strong support system and driving the team with participative approach, robust communication to foster trust, drive collaboration, and achieve results.

What advice would you give to young women aspiring to leadership roles in the hospitality industry?

My advice to young women aspiring to leadership roles in hospitality is simple: believe in your voice and be confident, back it up with knowledge and lead with integrity. Don’t wait for permission to take space; earn it with your work ethic, confidence, and professionalism. This industry demands resilience, so embrace challenges as opportunities to grow. Surround yourself with mentors who inspire you and peers who support you. Never underestimate the power of clear communication, emotional intelligence, and staying grounded in your values. And most importantly; show up for yourself, every single day. Your Network is your Net worth.
