Tourism Minister leaves for Canada to attend ICAO General Assembly

Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha has left for Canada to participate in the 41st Triennial General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Ministers and high-ranking officials of one hundred and ninety-three countries will participate in the General Assembly, which will begin on Tuesday in Montreal, Canada. At the conference, Minister Shrestha will inform the world community about the achievements of Nepal in the field of aviation, including the expansion of air links, airport upgrading and the construction of a new airport.

In the General Assembly, which will last until October 7, there will be a discussion on environmental protection, aviation safety and facilitation, aviation capacity and efficiency enhancement, as well as aviation policy, strategy and problem solving in this area, including air transport and economic development.

ICAO's General Assembly will vote for the election of member states. The Nepali delegation is scheduled to visit Nepal on October 5.
Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of the authority, informed “Issues such as improvement of the
aviation sector, security strategy, etc. will be discussed in the division.”
