Himalaya Airlines successfully operated a special diplomatic flight to Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China, carrying the Right Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli, and Madam Radhika Shakya on December 2, 2024. The Prime Minister is leading a high-level delegation for an official visit, marking another milestone in Nepal-China relations.
The entourage included prominent figures such as Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor Mr. Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic/Development Advisor Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, Members of Parliament, Chief Secretary Mr. Ek Narayan Aryal, senior government officials, and industry representatives.
President of Himalaya Airlines, Mr. Zhou Enyong, personally welcomed the Prime Minister and his delegation onboard. Vice President - Administration, Mr. Vijay Shrestha, was also present at Tribhuvan International Airport to bid them farewell.
The flight was operated by Himalaya Airlines’ Airbus A319 (registration 9N-AJK), which departed Kathmandu at 11:16 AM NST and landed at Beijing Capital International Airport at 6:03 PM local time. The experienced crew included Captain Hao Di, Vice President of Operations, Captain Riwaj Prasad Pradhan, and First Officer Sagar Shrestha.
After the flight, Mr. Shrestha remarked "It is a great honor for us to be given this opportunity to serve the nation by operating a special flight for the official travel of the Head of the Government. We are thankful to the Government of Nepal that we had such opportunities of conducting special flights for the Head of the Government and high dignitaries of the country in the past also. We also want to recollect operating a humanitarian flight to Kabul, some time ago, at the request of the Government of Nepal.
The Prime Minister’s delegation is scheduled to return to Nepal on December 5, 2024, aboard the same Airbus A319.
