Norwegian, one of the main air carriers in Scandinavia, has reported about 640,000 passengers in January 2022. With Norwegian passenger loads being on the rise since December 2021, Norwegian might be one of the few exceptions that have been recovering steadily from COVID-19.
With Omicron and new travel restrictions and measures, in addition to January usually being a quieter month for airlines, the passenger load has decreased by a moderate amount from December 2021. But compared to the previous year numbers (74,2240), it represents a significant increase for Norwegian with a load factor of 70 per cent.
The available seat kilometres (ASK) for 2021 was 1.2 billion kilometres and the revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) was 905 million seat kilometres. Norwegian operated at an average of 45 aircraft in operation and 99 per cent of scheduled flights were operated. Norwegian has announced that the carrier is ready to adapt its capacity to the pent-up future demand and look forward to welcoming customers to their service.
