With the monthly traffic figures coming in, it shows that Norwegian's total passenger load for December was 931,917 people with 48 aircraft in operation and 99.6 per cent of their scheduled flights were operated, a stellar record amidst the chaotic times of the new Omicron variant. "Norwegian was recently named the most punctual Nordic airline and the third most punctual airline in all of Europe," said Geir Karlsen, chief executive of Norwegian.
It should be taken into account that while passenger number of December 2021 (931,917) more than seven-fold than the last year (129,664), December 2020 was the time of government-imposed measures and restrictions which heavily affected the air carrier.
This high in passenger numbers is still impressive, considering the carrier already took into account lower demand in Christmas and New Year flights due to positive infection situations and government-imposed restrictions due to the new Omicron variants.
"I am pleased that we have efficiently balanced the planning and implementation of our route network and production for December. I am pleased to report that the load factors are good for December as well." And with a load factor of 71.3 per cent in December, Norwegian has an unusually bright future in an already risky industry especially in such unforgiving times
