The international-level rock climbing event in Nepal will take place in Solukhumbu, specifically in Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality's Mahbhir Ward No. 5 on the 3rd and 4th of Ashadh, 2081. This event, named the Mapya Mahbhir Open Rock Climbing Competition 2081, is a collaboration between the local municipality and the Nepal Climbing Sports Association.
Budhikiran Rai, the president of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality, expressed that the primary goal of this competition is to enhance both domestic and international tourism by showcasing the region's rock climbing potential. Despite the geographical challenges of Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality, its diverse opportunities in tourism, business, culture, and environment make it a worthy candidate for such an event. President Rai believes that this competition will not only benefit the municipality but also boost tourism throughout the district.
The contract for organizing the Mapya Mahbhir Open Rock Climbing Competition 2081 was signed by President Buddhikiran Rai on behalf of the Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality and President Hari Prasad Dharel representing the Nepal Climbing Sports Association. Both parties have agreed to host a Beach Rock Climbing competition in Kathmandu as part of their collaboration.
Hari Prasad Dharel, the President of the Nepal Climbing Sports Association, expressed his enthusiasm for partnering with Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality to promote both sports and tourism. While the agreement for the competition has been finalized, details about the prize for the winner are yet to be announced by the municipality.
