Kamirita Sherpa, a highly experienced climber known for his numerous ascents of Mount Everest, is gearing up for yet another attempt to scale the world's tallest peak. Last year, he made headlines by achieving his 28th successful climb of Everest, and now, at the age of 54, he's aiming for his 29th ascent.
Currently, Kamirita has reached the Everest Base Camp as part of his preparations. He embarked on his journey from Kathmandu about a week ago, and after passing through Lukla and Namche, he has finally arrived at the Base Camp. His expedition is scheduled during the Spring Season, which is a popular time for mountaineering activities in the Himalayas.
Accompanying Kamirita is a team of around 28 climbers, and their expedition is being managed by Seven Summit Treks Pvt Ltd, a renowned mountaineering company. Mingma Sherpa, the Chairperson of Seven Summit Treks, confirmed Kamirita's presence at the Base Camp for his 29th attempt to summit Everest.
The team is currently waiting for the optimal weather conditions before they commence their climb. In total, around 80 mountaineers have chosen to attempt the Everest ascent through Seven Summit Treks this season, highlighting the popularity and significance of this iconic peak in the mountaineering community.
Kamirita's previous achievements have cemented his status as a record-setter in the history of Everest climbing. While there are other accomplished climbers like Pasang Dawa Sherpa, who has also made numerous successful ascents, it remains uncertain whether Pasang will join this year's expedition.
Despite his remarkable achievements, Kamirita remains humble, stating that his primary motivation for climbing Everest is not to set records but rather to pursue his lifelong passion for mountaineering. He sees climbing as a profession and a way of life rather than a pursuit solely focused on achieving new milestones. Nevertheless, if Kamirita succeeds in reaching the summit once again, he will surpass his own previous record, further solidifying his place in mountaineering history.
