Artifacts of historical and archeological importance were retrieved during the construction of a school water tank in Bhaktapur.

Traditional bricks, including other construction materials, were found six and a half feet below the surface while constructing the water tank on the premises of Bhaktapur Durbar Square-based Niketan Secondary School. The objects belong to the Malla period.

Bhaktapur metropolis mayor Sunil Prajapati and deputy-mayor Rajani Joshi have already visited the site. The local government has urged the school management committee to halt the construction works for the time being. The local government said it is preparing to seek the help of archaeologists to study the historical objects.
