Following a 53-day hiatus, flights have recommenced at Jufal Airport in Dolpa, Nepal. The temporary closure was necessitated by crucial upgrades to the airport's 185-meter-long runway, which was completed at a total cost of Rs 60 million, inclusive of VAT, as confirmed by Civil Aviation Authority engineer Bir Prasad Shahi.
The much-awaited reopening saw a Tara Air flight from Nepalgunj touch down at Jufal this morning, marking the restoration of vital air services to the region. Prior to the upgrade, the runway had fallen into a state of disrepair, posing significant risks to travelers.
Jufal Airport holds immense importance as the sole air transport hub in Dolpa, situated in Karnali Province. Dolpa, the largest district in Nepal, stands to benefit significantly from this development, as improved connectivity promises safer and more reliable access for both locals and tourists alike.
The resumption of flights is anticipated to have a positive ripple effect, bolstering tourism and enhancing overall regional connectivity.
