Durga Bhavani is specially worshiped during this festival which is also called Chaite Dashain. Dashain i.e. Badadashain which falls on the Ashwin Shukla side is celebrated as grandly as Chaite Dashain, but special worship is held at Baglung Kalika temple.
As in Navratri in Chaitra, Baglung Kalika is worshiped and sacrificed in Chaitra Navratri. On the occasion of Chaite Dashain, Hindu devotees visit the Kalika Bhagwati temple with the belief that their wishes will be fulfilled.
The temple complex was cleaned on Tuesday, the day before Navratri. Sattals, monasteries and other small temples in the premises have also been marked. Guthi staff will be mobilized to manage the crowd and worship during Navratri. He informed that the help of the police will be taken to tighten the security system.
Guthi has also organized a fair with reference to Chaite Dashain. The fair will start from 13th of Chaitra. Guthi's goal is to attract 2 million tourists to Baglung to see the fair and visit the temple. In the past, the Chaitrashtami fair was also a center of barter. Agricultural and handicraft materials produced in Baglung, Radi-Pakhi Ghum made of sheep's wool and other items were displayed in the fair.
It was a custom to bring spices and other items from the Terai and exchange the materials with each other to buy the necessary items in the fair. The fair, which has been taking place spontaneously for a long time during Chaite Dashain, has been organizing a formal program for the past few years.
Chaite Dashain Mela is the main identity and opportunity of Baglung. Devotees from all over the country come to worship at Baglung Kalika temple at this time. Khadka says that the fair, which has not been held for the past few years due to the Corona epidemic, is going to be conducted in a grand manner this time. On the occasion of the fair, National Folk Dohori, Kalika Cup Open Men's Volleyball, National Folk Bhajan and Chhelo Throwing Competition have been organized.
Along with household and handicraft items, rooms of fancy and hotel restaurants will also be kept in the fair. Baglung Kalika Temple has now developed as a major tourist destination in Baglung. Tourism professionals say that if Baglung Kalika Temple, Lamo Suspension Bridge, Panchkot and Shaligram Museum can be promoted as a package, it will be important in tourism and economic development here.
