Every year, the Institute for Economics and Peace issues the Global Peace Index (GPI). The Global Peace Index (GPI) is a data-driven research that measures peace and harmony in 163 countries. GPI is based on a variety of elements and circumstances in a country, including governance stability, violence, crime rate, corruption level,rights acceptability, internal conflict, diplomatic relation with neighbouring countries, internal and external conflict, degree of militarisation, society safety and security.
Nepal is ranked 73rd out of 163 countries in the Global Peace Index 2022. Nepal rose from 85th place in 2021 to 73rd place in 2022. Amplified capita income and enhanced flow of information are significant aspects in increasing GPI of Nepal.
According to the GPI report Iceland, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark and Austria are the top 5 most peaceful countries.
