On May 9, HAN (Hotel Association Nepal) conducted its 46th AGM at Soaltee Crowne Plaza, a grand affair attended by government officials, tourism entrepreneurs, hoteliers and media personnel. The evening took off with the announcements and felicitations of the newly elected executive members and office bearers.
The AGM presented the first female President of HAN, Shreejana Rana from Hotel Del Annapurna; 1st Vice President, Binayak Shah from Airport Hotel; 2nd Vice President, Prabin Bahadur Panday from Hotel Shangri-La; Secretary General, Sajan Shakya from Kathmandu Prince Hotel and Treasurer, Vishal Kumar from Hotel Vaishali.
With VNY 2020 approaching HAN constantly focused its attention on the infrastructure development, making amends in policies, training, prioritising and protecting the industry. Shreejana Rana, President of HAN added, “The international market is growing exponentially and besides HAN’s primary objectives, we have also looked into facilitating and encouraging domestic tourists. During my tenure I will be giving my best to uplift HAN and its vision.”
On that note Binayak Shah, 1st Vice President of HAN said, “We are already involved in VNY 2020 campaigns. Hotels, resorts et cetera are bases of tourism; as of now we can cater 2.5 million tourists in Nepal and I can say we are fully prepared for the incoming of tourists.”
After musical performances and entertainment, the attendees geared up for the second half where HAN also showcased its second Tourism White Paper 2019. With the arrival of the Chief Guest the lamps were lit. Chief Guest, Hon. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Ishwar Pokhrel graced the event and highlighted key notes for the success of VNY 2020 and tourism in the country.
After the conclusion of the formal event, Prabin Bahadur Panday, 2nd Vice President of HAN added, “I’ve just been elected as the 2nd Vice President of HAN, so my objective won’t be a number but quality. So basically, we’re going to focus on the Nepali hospitality. Even as the President of SKAL, I have highlighted this before. Another thing, HAN needs to be restructured into a federal system and our aim is to promote each region, every product and chapter.”
Followed by a cocktail dinner, guests mingled and enjoyed the gala evening.
