The government of Nepal on Monday, March 23, 2020, has decided to enforce a week-long nationwide lockdown to avoid the possible risk of the COVID-19. It has announced a nationwide lockdown to be effective from 6 am Tuesday.
A meeting of the high-level government task force chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokhrel for the control and prevention of COVID-19 took the decision to this extend. The decision came hours after a 19-year old student was tested COVID-19 positive. She had recently arrived in Kathmandu from France.
During the lockdown period, all the transportation services including air services will be suspended. However, some important services including vehicles of security forces, health institutions and other permitted vehicles will be allowed.
