The 2025 Sherpa Half Marathon which started and ended at The Terraces Resort and Spa in Lakuri Bhanjyang held on March 8, successfully brought together 40 runners from Nepal and USA.

The 2025 Sherpa Half Marathon, held on March 8, successfully brought together 40 runners from Nepal and USA. The 21.6 km race, featuring challenging off-road terrain, started and ended at The Terraces Resort and Spa in Lakuri Bhanjyang. Along with the event, the resort also organized a “Fun Run” for around 30 children from Shree Basuki Secondary School. 

The event, organized in collaboration with Himalayan Running Club, Nepal, and Coddiwomple Travel, saw participants navigate an ascent and descent of 1,088 to 2,143 meters, offering breathtaking Himalayan views. “We are honored to bring runners from around the world to Nepal for this extraordinary event,” said Scott Guillemette, CEO of Coddiwomple Travel. “Partnering with The Terraces Resort & Spa allows us to offer an unparalleled race experience—one that blends high-altitude adventure with comfort and cultural immersion.”

In the men’s category, Gopal Lama secured first place, finishing in 1:34:52 hours, followed by Dharma Maharjan in second position with 1:40:21 hours and Rakesh Maharjan 1:53:04 hours in third place. Among female runners, Choki Sherpa claimed victory in 2:01:46 hours followed by Humi Budha Magar in 2:10:11 hours and Shasa Shrestha in 2:54:33 hours claiming second and third position respectively. Similarly, International Male runners Pemba Sherpa completed in 2:49:10 hours and Women Donna Holas completed in 4:44:41 hours. Winners received cash prizes of NPR 30,000, NPR 20,000, and NPR 10,000, along with medals, race t-shirts, and certificates.

The prize ceremony, held at The Terraces Resort and Spa, was attended by Mr. Hari Govinda Shrestha, the Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality, Ward Chairman of ward 9 and 10 along with Managing Director Tenzing David Sherpa and General Manager Suman Sunder Shrestha, who also distributed medals and awards.

MD of Terraces Resort and Spa, Mr. Tenzing David Sherpa, an avid runner himself, commented “We are proud to be associated with this incredible event. This marathon not only promotes endurance sports in Nepal but also strengthens our commitment to adventure tourism and community engagement.”
