A suspension bridge linking Gorkha and Tanahun districts has collapsed due to the flood in Marsyangdi river following incessant rainfall for the past few days. 

The flooded river led to the sinking of the bridge linking Aabukhaireni rural municipality-2 of Tanahun and Gorkha municipality-14 on Thursday night.

The flood has damaged the part of the bridge towards Tanahu district. Chief Administrative Officer of Aabukhaireni rural municipality, Bishnu Prasad Pokhrel, said that problem has surfaced in movement of people due to this. 

A team of employees and people’s representatives of Aabukhaireni is heading towards the incident site to take stock of the situation. Pokharel added a team of technicians is also preparing to go to the incident site for assessing the damaged structure.
