The devotees’ offerings were used to fund the installation of street lights at the Galeshwor temple

Street lights have been installed at Galeshwor temple at Beni municipality-9 in Myagdi district.

A total of 55 street lights were installed in the 2.5-km road and temple premises of Galeshwor Bazaar on Monday.

A total of Rs 230,750 was spent to install street lights. Locals and tourists going to Myagdi and Mustang have found it easier to travel on foot and vehicles at night.

The lights have been installed from the offerings made by the devotees at the Galeshwor temple. Repair and electricity bills are also managed from the income of the temple. The street lights have helped to make the market bright and safe.

The offerings offered by the devotees at Galeshwar temple have been mobilised for the salary of priests, staff, Sanskrit school, and senior citizen ashram and infrastructure construction. In the last 12 years, various physical infrastructures have been constructed at a cost of around Rs 100 million.

The offerings offered by the devotees at Galeshwor are made public on a monthly basis the next day of the fair and at other times. Located on a single rock spread over nine ropanis of land on the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, Galeshwor is known as the gateway to Pashupatinath and Mukti area in the west.

A special fair is held on Monday, Bala Chaturdashi and Maha Shivaratri festivals in the month of Saun. It is believed that worshipping and visiting Galeshwar will give virtue and fulfil the wishes of the people.

“The street lights have been installed at the temple by mobilising the offerings made by the devotees,” said Madhav Prasad Regmi, chairman of The Galeshwor Shivalaya Area Development Trust
