Statues of Hindu deities Rama, Sita and Hanuman have been installed at Ayodhyadham in Madi, Chitwan district amid a function. On the occasion, religious gurus, people's representatives and local people were present. The statue was handed over by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli after conducting a special Puja in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
People attending the function included chief of Province 3 Bishnu Prasain, chief of Province 2 Rajesh Ahiraj, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal and Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Dormani Poudel among others. On the occasion, Minister Dhakal said that installment of the statue has proved an important step for religious tourism of the area.
Stating that Rama is son of Nepal, he said, "Rama had taken bath in the sacred shrine, Devghat according to theology." As verified by facts in theology, Rama was born in Ayodhyapuri irrespective of political prejudice, he claimed. Likewise, Bagmati Province CM Poudel said that the central and provincial government was at work to develop Madi as the center of attraction.
Other speakers, mayor of Madi Municipality Thakur Dhakal, Ayodhyadham researcher Lokmani Poudel and deputy mayor of the municipality Tarakaji Mahato sought support of all to develop the Dham.
Prior to this, a procession with the statue taken on a vehicle was carried out and psalmody was performed. Hundreds of people from various walks of life joined the procession.
The statue was built in Baluwatar in the central capital, Kathmandu, three months ago at the direction of PM Oli. On Tuesday, the statue was taken around Pashupatinath Temple while chanting religious mantras.
