The Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC) has launched the ‘Pokhara for All Seasons’ initiative to attract tourists and boost the local tourism industry. Known for its beautiful lakes and stunning landscapes, Pokhara is a popular destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. This new initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the private sector to draw more visitors to the city.
In a significant move to boost tourism, the PMC has also declared 2025 as the Pokhara Visit Year. Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya made this announcement while presenting the metropolis’s annual policies and programs for the fiscal year 2024/25 on Sunday. The initiative aims to attract at least 1.5 million tourists in 2025 through coordinated efforts with the federal government, provincial government, and private sectors. This collaborative approach is expected to create a substantial impact on the local economy and elevate Pokhara's status as a premier travel destination.

To ensure the successful implementation of these plans, an action plan will be developed under the Tourism Capital Pokhara Integrated Strategy. This strategy will focus on planned development projects that enhance the city's infrastructure and tourism offerings. Mayor Acharya emphasized the importance of recognizing and promoting the unique identities of each of the city’s 33 wards through a ‘one ward one special program.’ This initiative will highlight the distinct cultural, historical, and natural attributes of each ward, identifying their potential to attract visitors.
The newly announced policies and programs also include organizing investment meetings and events to attract and encourage both domestic and foreign investments in potential projects. By ensuring policy and procedural reforms, the PMC aims to create a favorable environment for investors, fostering growth and development in the tourism sector.
Furthermore, the PMC plans to maximize the use of electronic media for tourism promotion. This will include the creation of destination profiles for major tourist spots within the metropolis, providing potential visitors with detailed information and enticing them to explore Pokhara’s many attractions.
