Mahbhir Waterfall, nestled in the Temkamaiung Rural Municipality of Bhojpur, is emerging as a magnet for tourists. The sustained efforts of the rural municipality towards its development and preservation are drawing a growing number of both domestic and international visitors.

Situated approximately 29 kilometers from Bhojpur's headquarters and just four and a half kilometers west of the rural municipality center, this waterfall is a year-round attraction. Accessible by a convenient road, tourists are increasingly flocking to witness the picturesque cascade of water.

Local residents attest to the rising influx of tourists, attributing it to the improved accessibility. The mesmerizing sight of water cascading down from the waterfall's height captures the fascination of visitors, who arrive in droves, with dozens enjoying its beauty daily.

Buddhaprasad Rai, a local resident, believes that with further infrastructure development and increased promotion, the waterfall could substantially contribute to the economic resources of the rural municipality. He notes a significant surge in visitors, particularly during the summer season, with weekends being especially popular.

"The number of tourists visiting Mahbhir Waterfall is on the rise," Rai expressed. "Dozens of people arrive every day. With enhanced publicity efforts, it has the potential to become a significant source of income for the village."

According to Rai, the increase in visitors is attributed to the extension of the mid-hill road that connects Diktel, Bhojpur's headquarters, and Khotang, which now passes through this region. The waterfall is conveniently situated just two and a half kilometers from the main highway, making it a natural stop for travelers along this route.

Mahbhir Waterfall, situated in Ward No. 4 Nagi of the rural municipality, stands at an impressive height of 60 meters. Locals refer to it as Mahbhir Waterfall, associated with the historical presence of Bhirmauri in the area. The perennial flow of water from the spring is particularly captivating during the summer months, attracting more visitors during this period.

Sandeep Neupane, the Chief Administrative Officer, highlights the development efforts undertaken around the waterfall, including the necessary infrastructure to cater to tourists. He asserts that Mahbhir Waterfall has now been established as a prominent tourist destination within the rural municipality.

"Mahbhir Waterfall is solidifying its reputation as a preferred tourist spot," Neupane declared. "Dozens of visitors arrive daily. We are committed to its development and conservation, with plans for further expansion in the future, especially concerning road infrastructure."

Ramadevi Rai, the Vice-Chairperson of the village, emphasizes that efforts are underway to establish Mahavir Waterfall as a dedicated tourist area. She mentions ongoing collaboration with Koshi Province to enhance the access road to the waterfall, emphasizing Temkemaiung's potential for natural resources and tourism.

"Temkemaiung Rural Municipality possesses immense tourism and agriculture potential," Vice-Chairperson Rai stated. "Numerous tourist attractions exist here, and we aim to harness this potential by connecting them with agriculture and organized tourism. Mahavir Falls is evolving as a prominent tourist destination, and we have a well-thought-out plan for its continued development."

The rural municipality has expressed its commitment to prioritize the development of tourist attractions within its boundaries, with plans to expand the pathways for visitor convenience. The goal is to integrate tourism with the village council's economic prosperity, underscoring the municipality's systematic approach to agriculture and tourism development.
